NFC West

Remember when the NFC West was the laughing stock of the NFL? Remember when the 7-9 Seahawks won the division and likewise became the first ever team to make the post-season with a losing record?

It looks like those days are behind us. In fact, one could say the NFC West is now one of if not the STRONGEST division in the NFL. The Seahawks, just two years removed from the 7-9 season that earned them a playoff birth, are currently ahead of the dominant Green Bay Packers 7-0. Even more imprresive is the eight sacks they have recorded just in the first half alone. Seattle is always a tough opponent at home with their "12th man" factor, and now with rookie quarterback Russell Wilson leading the helm, Seattle seems to be poised and on the rise.

Along with Seattle, is the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers. After a very solid 14-2 season a year ago, the Niners are showing once again that they are Super Bowl contenders. With their 80's style of play, the Niners are pounding the ball and using a solid defense to help themselves win low scoring ball games. Their rivals in the dessert, Arizona has possibly been the biggest shocker in the NFL so far. With a defense that has shut down high powered offenses such as New England and Philadelphia, Arizona is showing that they are not to be overlooked in the NFC.

I think I have figured out the key to success that the NFC West has derived.....strong defense and do not turn the ball over. If you look at these teams, none of the quarterbacks jump out at you, in fact none of the offensive players
